Differential preferences for RBCs is key for Plasmodium species evolutionary diversity within human host

چکیده
Plasmodium species exhibit differential preferences for red blood cells (RBCs) of different ages. From a fundamental standpoint, we propose an age-structured within-host malaria model taking into account the variation in RBCs preference. We show that such ecological characteristic within their human host is to capture diversity same infected individual. with difference preferences, long-term coexistence possible under certain condition, basically based on suitable order basic reproduction numbers each species. In particular, dynamical behavior not trivial and can range from extinction all species, persistence single more than one also describe how our general analysis be applied some coinfection configurations including three species: falciparum, vivax, and/or malariae. This improved understanding parasite multiplication context mixed interactions.

Genetic Diversity within Species
Based on our review of literature and survey of geneticists working on California taxa, we find genetic information lacking for most species in the Sierra Nevada. This situation is likely to remain in the future, with specific groups of taxa or occasional rare or high-interest species receiving specific study. Where we do have empirical information, we find few generalities emerging, except occ...

Within-host diversity of MRSA antimicrobial resistances
OBJECTIVES MRSA is a major antimicrobial resistance (AMR) pathogen. The reservoir of infecting isolates is colonization, which is the site of evolutionary selection. The aim was to identify if AMRs in colonizing MRSA populations diversified and potential mechanisms of resistance gene transfer in vivo. METHODS Nasal swabs from 38 MRSA carriers admitted to hospital were plated and 20 individual...
متن کامل(macro-) Evolutionary ecology of parasite diversity: From determinants of parasite species richness to host diversification
The present review summarized the factors or determinants that may explain parasite diversity among host species and the consequences of this parasite diversity on the evolution of host-life history traits. As host-parasite interactions are asymmetrical exploited-exploiter relationships, ecological and epidemiological theories produce hypotheses to find the potential determinants of parasite sp...
